On July 9, I read the following in a Yahoo “News” article.

“A network of about 70 public health labs set up by the CDC has the capacity to identify orthopoxviruses, the family that includes smallpox and monkeypox. But local doctors must first get clearance from a state public health researcher, then somehow get the samples to one of the labs, the same process used in early 2020 to identify coronavirus infections.”1

The same article said,

Only recently have tests been shipped to commercial laboratories; one of them began offering testing Wednesday [July 6].

I predicted then that Monkeypox was about to break out of the box. Not because it’s suddenly become more of a problem but because we are now testing for it. Sooo. Today, almost a week later, the new article from Yahoo! is entitled “‘Shocking’ Monkeypox Screw-Up Means We Need to Admit We Now Face Two Pandemics.”

Shocking? Au contraire. I’ve been sipping soda and eating popcorn, waiting for the script of this movie to finally get good. I think we’re about to the arrive at the action scenes. After a long list of plausible deniability credits and a couple months of stage setting, the world is about to get all poxy!

Hope you’re ready for another pandemic. The Yahoo article hints that Monkeypox may mutate. “Health experts agree: the outbreak could soon qualify as a pandemic, if it doesn’t already. And the situation is likely to get worse before it gets better. More infections, more deaths, more chances for the pox to mutate.”2

I’m still hopeful that the monkeypox will remain an STD. But if it mutates (not as likely as covid since this is a DNA virus) and/or gets into an animal reservoir, all bets are off.

We’ll have another pandemic
that will be endemic
and I—for one—
will be anemic.
