The DEI curriculum is unconstitutional
"All schools maintained or supported wholly or in part by the public funds shall be forever free from sectarian control or influence." -Article IX, Section 4 WA State Constitution
Sectarian - Of, relating to, or characteristic of a sect or sectarian
Sect - A group of people forming a distinct unit within a larger group by virtue of certain refinements or distinctions of belief or practice.
Whereas: There exists a well-organized movement for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Washington State’s public schools. It is well documented that educators who push back against this movement risk their jobs. And parents who oppose the DEI curriculum are often silenced.
Whereas: The impetus for the DEI movement comes from a certain group of people in society who hold distinctions of belief and practice that are not held in common by all educators, parents or school workers.
Whereas: By definition, the group who promote the DEI movement constitute a sect.
Whereas: Article IX Section IV of the Washington State constitution prohibits sectarian control or influence.
…forever free of sectarian influence or control.
Therefore: Let it be resolved that the influence and control the DEI sect has over our education system be eliminated. Let it also be resolved that teachers and parents who oppose the DEI ideology be allowed to peacefully express their arguments against it without fear of intimidation from the DEI sect.

RL Martin
